Chengde 承德
Chengde is only an hour away from Beijing and a great locale for a weekend adventure. The town is built along a river with a charming river-walk park. It is not a “foodie” town in the vein of Chengdu or Shanghai, but it has delicious and filling restaurants featuring rich, meaty dishes.
The main attraction in the town is the Mountain Resort, built in the Qing Dynasty for Emperors seeking to escape the Beijing summer heat. It is striking how much cooler it is in Chengde than Beijing, and therefore worth the train trip for that fact alone.
承德离北京只有一个小时的路程，是一个周末游玩的好地方。城市沿河修建，那里有一个迷人的河边散步公园。它不像是成都或上海那样的美食之都，但也有美味的餐厅和可口的菜肴。承德的主要景点是避暑山庄，是为清朝时期躲避京城酷暑的皇帝修建的。令人惊讶的是，承德比北京凉爽得多，非常值得火车旅行。
The Resort is in an amazing park with hiking trails, temples, deer, and a narrow wall with city and woodland views that are difficult to match. The Resort also features “Twelve Outlying Temples” built as replicas of famous temples around Qing China.
They are very authentic replicas and each worthy of exploration. Little Potala (a replica of Potala in Lhasa) gives one the feeling of being in faraway Tibet. Chengde is an excellent choice for an overnight or weekend trip from Beijing.
避暑山庄主要分为宫殿区和苑景区，景区内有徒步小径、寺庙、小鹿、城墙，和绝美的森林景色。避暑山庄内有12座雄伟壮观的寺庙群组成，其为中国清朝著名寺庙的复制品。看起来极其真实，但每一个都值得探索。小布达拉宫（仿拉萨布达拉宫）给人一种远在西藏的感觉。承德实属来自北京游玩或周末旅行的绝佳选择。

Xi’an 西安
Xi’an is a famous city for travelers and with good reason! Nothing needs to be said about the Terra Cotta Warriors and the Qin Shi Huang Mausoleum. It is every bit as fantastic as its reputation suggests and is a can’t miss.
However, the city of Xi’an gets far less attention as a travel destination in and of itself. Some highlights include an absolutely beautiful city wall. It may not be fully original (as the wall around Ping Yao is), but it makes up for it by being beautiful and very accessible.
You can walk on it long into the night and it offers some of the best views in the city.
有充分的理由证明西安是一个著名的游览胜地！兵马俑和秦始皇陵无需再提及。西安作为大众极力推荐的旅游胜地，名不虚传，不容错过。
西安作为旅游目的地的关注要少一些。独具历史感的城墙也是西安的亮点之一。跟平遥古城相比，它也许不是古代留下的，但它的壮观和亲和力足以弥补这一不足。
你可以伴着夜色在城墙上漫步，享受着这个城市独有的美景。

The Muslim Quarter features a wonderful mosque with Chinese architecture that harkens back to the Tang Dynasty.
The Little Wild Goose Pagoda (part of the Silk Road UNESCO World Heritage Site) stands in a lovely park a short walk south of the city wall.
It’s an impressive memorial to the Silk Road and the pivotal place Xi’an (then Chang’an) had as the starting point on that trade route.
回民街有一座清真寺，其建筑风格让人回想起唐朝。小雁塔（被列入“丝绸之路：长安-天山廊道路网”世界遗产名录）坐落在一个美丽的公园内，距离城墙以南仅几步之遥。
这对于丝绸之路和当时的长安拥有这个贸易路线起点的重要地点具有里程碑意义。
Finally, Xi’an has a unique food scene that rivals its far larger urban competitors around China. The Biang Biang Mian (famous for its nearly impossible to write Chinese character) is a hearty and satisfying meal in summer or winter. From your first taste, the complex flavors and simple presentation exemplify everything amazing about this city.
Xi’an is far more than the Qin Shi Huang connection and well worth a day or two to fully explore.
最后，西安有一个独特的美食，可以与中国其他大城市相媲美。BiángBiáng面（以其复杂的汉字而闻名）无论在夏季或冬季都是一顿丰盛满意的佳肴。第一次品尝，它独特的味道和简洁的呈现就体现了这座城市独具魅力的风格。
西安的古都文明远不止与秦始皇的联系，值得花更多的时间去仔细探索。
