Mr. Philip Akerman

 Harrow Beijing

Jeremy S

成长,来自一堂堂打破固有思维、教会我们带着好奇审视世界的课程;

来自始终相信我们的老师们,哪怕在我们自我怀疑的时刻,他们也从未放弃期许;

Nina C

教室里的朗朗书声,操场上的肆意奔跑;

心怀勇气,奔赴山海;坚守荣誉,步履铿锵;

As spring begins to bloom, the farewell song rises once more. Another cohort of Harrow Beijing students, dressed in formal graduation gowns, pause on their familiar campus to capture the defining moments of their youth. Smiles and tears intertwine; memories and aspirations coexist. In this moment, they bid farewell to the past while embracing the future, officially embarking on their journey to the wider world.

Since its founding in 2005, Harrow Beijing has upheld the values of Courage, Honour, Humility, and Fellowship, nurturing a generation with global vision and passionate hearts. From here, students have gone on to the world's leading universities and stepped onto broader life stages, shining across diverse fields and writing their own unique stories.

Last week, we witnessed the proud milestone of the Class of 2026—a moment not only crowning their growth, but also marking the prologue to their dreams start.

Graduation

A Crown of Honour

A Season of Achievement

The Class of 2026 has once again delivered outstanding results in this year's university admissions cycle:

They have received offers from the world's top institutions, including nearly 20 offers from the UK's prestigious G5 universities, and for five consecutive years, coveted admissions to The London School of Economics and Political Science. In the United States, they achieved a historic breakthrough with an offer from Amherst College, ranked second among liberal arts colleges nationwide, alongside offers from top universities such as the University of Southern California, the University of California, Los Angeles, and New York University. In the arts, they flourished across the board, securing places at globally renowned institutions such as the Rhode Island School of Design and Berklee College of Music. The highest individual four-year full scholarship exceeded RMB 800,000, and total scholarship amounts reached a new high.

Each offer represents the accumulation of countless days and nights of dedication.

Each scholarship is a testament to potential and perseverance.

They pursued knowledge in the classroom, strove for excellence on the field, expressed themselves on stage, and took responsibility within their communities—embodying the distinctive spirit and strength of Harrow students through a diverse yet steadfast journey of growth.

Headmaster's Address

Mr. Philip Akerman

Headmaster of Harrow Beijing

It is nice to anchor a short talk in some strong imagery, and I have chosen a sunset as mine. As your time winds down here at Harrow Beijing, your graduation might feel a little like standing at sunset.

 Harrow Beijing

At the very same moment the sun sets where we are standing, it is rising somewhere else in the world. At that exact instant, a new day begins—bringing light, possibility, and opportunity for people who see the same sun from a different place.

Nothing about the sun has changed.

Only the vantage point.

And so it is with you, Year 13.

From where we are standing today—as your teachers, leaders, parents, and mentors—this feels like a sunset. A moment of reflection. A moment of pride mixed with nostalgia. A moment where we look back at all you have been within these walls.

But from where you are about to stand—from campuses across the world, from cities you have yet to call home, from lives you are only beginning to shape—this moment will not look like an ending at all. It will look like a sunrise. In years to come, you will look back on Harrow Beijing from a different vantage point. The stressful days will soften. The routines will fade. And what will rise into sharper focus are the things that truly mattered: the people who believed in you, the friendships that shaped you, the moments that tested you—and proved to you who you were becoming.

Remember that difficulty does not mean darkness forever.
Remember that endings are often beginnings seen from the wrong angle.
Remember that where you stand determines what you see.

And remember that no matter how far you travel from this place, the sun that rises on your future is the same one that has shone on you here—on the classrooms where you learned, the fields where you played, the friendships that carried you forward.

Congratulations, Class of Year 13.
  Your sunrise awaits.

 Journey Together to Pursue Dreams

Jeremy S

2026 Head Boy

My fellow class of 2026. I'm Jeremy, and it is my true honour today to address you for the final time.

I still remember walking into Harrow as a Year 4 student. It was intimidating, in many ways, much like today. I couldn't quite see what was ahead of me. And looking around this room now I know this story isn't unique. Every one of us had a moment like that. A first conversation, a first friendship, a first moment when these walls were no longer cold and unfamiliar, but alive with memories.

These trickles of conversations with people that would turn out to be lifelong friends were the first rays of sunshine that seeded our growth. We had taken root. Long before a plant ever breaks through the surface, something extraordinary had already taken place beneath the soil. In fact, arguably the most important part of its life happens before anything is visible at all. Roots begin to form. Energy begins to build. Life quietly prepares itself for growth. Germination, as we would later learn in biology.

And in many ways, our years here have been much the same.

They came from lessons that challenged us to think differently and see the world with curiosity.

From teachers who believed in us, even in the moments when we doubted ourselves. And our friends, the people sitting beside us today, were our twenty-one degrees Celsius: Our optimum temperature that made sure we settled in comfortably.

Most important of all, our own resilience. Something that we never celebrate enough is just how much effort we have put into our personal growth.

But right now, I would like to urge you to remember your roots. This theatre, the rainbow-coloured hallways, the messy common room, your teachers and your friends. This is where you draw your strength from, to brave your future and write your stories. Wherever we may end up, whatever we will be doing, we all share the same roots. Here. And we stand proud and together because of it.

Harrow Beijing

Nina C

2026 Head Girl

Hello everyone. My name is Nina and it is a great honor to stand here today and speak on behalf of the Class of 2026.

As I write this speech, it is Monday, March 16, 2026. Some of you are handing out jerseys for the ACAMIS competition—I hope that by the time I read these words aloud, you will have already returned in triumph with gold medals. It seems like such an ordinary moment, but as I write it down, I realize that days like these are quietly slipping through my fingers. Even typing this sentence brings tears to my eyes.

This is a community filled with love. In the early autumn sea breeze of Beidaihe, we helped each other balance on sailboards, stumbling as we learned to move forward; in the spring, on the steps of the Temple of Heaven, we stood shoulder to shoulder, tossing our graduation caps into the sky. I believe that whether we are thirty, forty, or fifty years old, we will still remember those days—running along the beach together, watching the sunrise side by side, and even the mornings when we shed tears together.

On behalf of my classmates, I would also like to thank our teachers who have always been by our side. Thank you for your dedication, for your seriousness balanced with humor. Because of you, we have gradually discovered the subjects we truly love. On this long journey toward the future, you have given us greater certainty and the courage to move forward.

I would also like to express our deepest gratitude to our parents. You have been there for us every step of the way. You have shown us that no matter how vast the world may be, we will always have a warm home to return to. We may make mistakes, face setbacks, and stumble along the path of exploration, but we will strive to become adults who make you proud.

I believe that at this moment, all of us feel a mix of emotions. I want to say to everyone—well done. The tears we shed during the long winters have finally turned into tickets that will carry us far away in the autumn. Lastly, on behalf of the four student leaders, I want to thank you all—taking on such responsibility for the first time was not easy, and we are grateful for your continued support and participation in our imperfect events. It is you who have made our campus more vibrant and full of warmth.

I almost wish this speech would never come to an end—because it feels as if, by continuing to write, we could delay the moment when we truly step beyond the school gates. But as I reach this point, it is indeed time to bring it to a close. How fortunate we are. My Upper School years have been so colorful, so passionate, and so brave. May we always keep the spirit of eighteen alive within us—measuring every inch of the world with fearless steps. And in a few years, let's promise to return to this familiar place. When we do, let's run across the field again, laughing just as we are today.

Harrow Beijing

Graduation

Youth Never Truly Ends

May We Meet Again, Just As We Are

The sound of reading aloud in the classroom, Running on the sports field;

Late nights spent studying under the lamp, the confident brilliance at center stage—

Those days we shared have long become the brightest footnotes of youth.

Graduation is never truly a farewell, but rather the beginning of an even greater journey.

The world is vast, and your paths may differ, yet you all carry the same name—students of Harrow Beijing.

Your alma mater will always be here, watching as you set out toward distant horizons, and looking forward to the many times you will return with your own stories of achievement and glory.

To the Class of 2026 of Harrow Beijing:

May you carry Courage in your hearts as you venture far and wide; Stand firm in Honour, with resolute and confident steps; Uphold Humility, moving steadily toward distant goals; And never forget Fellowship, walking together with warmth and support.

In a broader world, may you chase your dreams with bravery, shine without end, and write a life story that is uniquely your own.
