CAFA设计学院 ｜“时尚未来-2024中英时尚创新对话会”在伦敦顺利举行

On the afternoon of April 22, 2024, Future of Fashion -- 2024 China - UK Fashion and Innovation Symposium, jointly organized by the School of Design, Central Academy of Fine Arts and the International Fashion Art Network (IFAN), was successfully held at the Fan Museum in London.

Lyu Yue (Aluna), founder，academic leader and doctoral supervisor of CAFA Fashion Department, and president of IFAN; Yimeng Yu, lecturer and course leader of CAFA fashion department; Sarah Gresty, BA fashion course leader of University of The Arts London (UAL) Central Saint Martins(CSM); Louis Loizou, CSM BA senior lecturer in Pattern Cutting; Nigel Luck, former MA Fashion Design & Technology Womenswear Course Director of UAL London College of Fashion(LCF)，and CAFA PhD Students in the direction of Digital Technology and Fashion Art Study, Siyun Huang and Xinyuan Wang, delivered speeches. The speakers from both China and the UK had a lively discussion on the current situation and problems, innovations and limitations, and future potentials in the field of fashion industry, academia, and research.

Yimeng Yu, the moderator of the symposium, introduced the professional characteristics and innovative achievements of teaching practice in Central Academy of Fine Arts in her opening speech.

Guest speakers Sarah Gresty and Louis Loizou opened a discussion on the undergraduate curriculum of fashion design, explaining examples of Central Saint Martins' excellent teaching achievements and illustrating the concept of BA course construction as well as the path of student cultivation from a variety of perspectives, such as materials, crafts, and industry. They also expressed their thoughts and visions on the future of fashion.

演讲嘉宾奈吉尔·卢克从时尚教育与时尚产业两个角度，结合自己在多国顶尖时尚院校教学经历，和品牌创意指导的工作经验，指出设计师的“问题意识”、“设计方法”和“职业规划”在未来的时尚中将尤为重要。同时，他也逐一谈及了设计、时尚表达、材料、时尚传播等多方面的未来趋势。

From the perspective of fashion education and the fashion industry, the guest speaker Nigel Luke combined with his teaching experience in top fashion colleges in many countries and his working experience as a creative director of brands, pointed out that the designers' “problem awareness”, “design method” and “career planning” will be particularly important in the future of fashion. At the same time, he also talked about the future trends of fashion expression, materials, fashion communication, etc.

The speaker Xinyuan Wang focused on the theme of “Fashion Future”, sharing research cases on fashion curation and sustainable fashion, and tracing the development of technology-led fashion changes.

LyuYue（Aluna）, the academic host of the meeting, made a concluding speech for the symposium, expressing her gratitude to the British guests for their participation in the meeting, and putting forward a new vision of deepening academic communication and cooperation between the fashion design direction of CAFA and British institutions in the future.
