Act I:
A Dazzling Opening
Stars Align
At 6:45, the stage curtains slowly opened as the rhythmic beats of "dong dong qiang" erupted in a crescendo—the adorable children from Xuhui Campus, dressed in vibrant dragon and golden lion costumes, charged onto the stage, marking the thrilling opening of "Blazing Traditions: A Dance of Dragons and Lions"! The little lions, with their big blinking eyes, leaped and frolicked playfully, while the colorful dragon weaved and undulated in the children's hands. Their movements, though delightfully clumsy, overflowed with childlike charm.
Before the warm-up act could conclude, the rhythmic knocking sounds of "Doo-doo-doo, selling sweet congee~" drifted through the air, blending the soft Wu dialect with the nostalgic cries of alleyway vendors. Children from Qibao Campus began singing the nursery rhyme "We Love Shanghai." On the giant backdrop screen, the scene alternated between the gray-brick walls of Shikumen and the glittering nightscape of the Bund, creating a striking contrast between old Shanghai’s charm and new Shanghai’s vitality, allowing Haipai culture to spring to new life through their lively performance.
Act II:
The Theater of Stars
A Symphony of Growth
As the lights dimmed and rose again, the musical "The Adventures of Lucky Friends" officially commenced. Under the spotlight, elementary schooler Lucky and her friends—Wang Duoduo, Xiang Beibei, and Ding Dongdong—made their entrances one by one. With the stage lighting transforming dynamically, the audience became fully immersed in the daily lives of Lucky and his companions.
The young performers portrayed the realities of academic pressures and social challenges faced by schoolchildren with remarkable authenticity—through genuine emotion, seamless bilingual dialogue transitions, and expressive physical acting. In the audience, parents and children alike rode the emotional waves of the narrative: bursting into laughter at times, holding their breath in suspense at others, and occasionally finding their eyes moist with empathetic recognition.
Act III
Galactic Splendor
Intermission Spectacle
As the first act of the musical drew to a temporary close, children from Victoria Pudong Campus stormed the stage with their "Dynamic Sports Show", delivering an electrifying burst of youthful vitality! Basketball squads dazzled with slick dribbling relays, while young baseball sluggers demonstrated perfect teamwork through their powerful swings. Cheerleaders sent colorful pom-poms arcing through the air in perfect synchronization, and even our littlest Pre-K stars performed with remarkable poise - their every movement vividly showcasing the unique charm and profound heritage of traditional Chinese culture.
Next, children from Victoria Gumei Campus made a dazzling entrance in vibrant ethnic costumes, presenting their spectacular performance "The Most Dazzling Ethnic Dance." The stage came alive as Xinjiang parent-child dancers moved with infectious joy, their embroidered caps and colorful skirts blooming across the stage like a field of flowers. The Yi ethnic dance transformed into a pulsating rhythm of fire and passion, with children clapping and stomping in jubilant celebration. Finally, the Tibetan dance rose as a majestic tribute to the plateau, young performers joining hands to send blessings rippling through the theater amid laughter and cheers.
Act IV
A Dreamlike Journey
Embracing Growth
As the lingering brilliance of the intermission performances still shimmered in the air, we once again followed Lucky's imagination into the magical "Realm of Growth" - a world of infinite possibilities! Here, she encountered her old friend "Mao Mao" transformed into the "Guardian of Dreams," the mysterious "Day Wandering Deity," along with "Magic Envoys" and "Sprite" companions, embarking together on a thrilling yet delightfully whimsical adventure!
When the warm and empowering theme song of "The Adventures of Lucky Friends" resounded through the theater once more, Lucky and her friends ultimately discovered the true essence of growth through this wondrous journey: The path of growing up isn't always bathed in sunlight - there will be storms and stumbles along the way. But so long as our hearts are filled with love, armed with courage to face challenges, treasuring the warm companionship of friends, plus that extra spark of imagination to make life shine, we can overcome all obstacles and grow up joyfully!
Act V
A Starry Finale
Tears and Triumph
The musical drew to its heartfelt conclusion amidst warmth and profound emotion. As the soul-stirring melody of the curtain call performance "We Are The Future" filled the auditorium, teachers and children united their voices in song. Upon the grand screen, precious historical footage of Victoria's sixty-year journey flowed like a celestial river - each frame whispering tales of time and bearing the profound weight of educational legacy.
In this transcendent moment, every member of the Victoria family - whether performers on stage or parents, alumni, and distinguished guests in the audience - found their hearts swelling with ineffable emotion, pride, and profound belonging. Tears intertwined with radiant smiles as thunderous applause reverberated without end. This marked not merely the finale of a performance, but rather a poignant retrospective on six decades of educational devotion, coupled with boundless aspirations and solemn promises for the future.
As the performance concluded, an electric atmosphere of excitement and joy continued to resonate throughout the theater and beyond. Parents enthusiastically shared their profound admiration and heartfelt emotions:
Witnessing the musical live filled me with immense excitement. The sparkle in the children's eyes outshone even the stage lights. What moved me most was my child's confident smile while entering with friends, the same girl who once tugged her skirt nervously during class presentations now radiated poise and self-assurance on stage. This musical wasn't just a performance; it felt like a heartwarming family celebration where children of all ages collaborated seamlessly, beautifully demonstrating how education is truly about lives touching lives.
As the curtains closed and the final note faded, my heart overflowed with gratitude. Every magnificent moment of this musical was infused with the love and dedication of all involved. Seeing our children blossom with confidence under the spotlight - gaining courage, teamwork and passion through performance, interpreting roles with childlike authenticity while writing their growth stories through perseverance - has been priceless. Though Ethan will soon graduate, his heart remains connected. Our deepest thanks to the Little Actors team, Ms. Melanie, and Ethan, playing the Wasp, says he's looking forward to seeing everyone again next time!
Watching my child stand on that stage stirred profound emotions in me. The progress made in just six months was astonishing, from achieving crystal-clear Mandarin articulation to performing fearlessly before an audience. This remarkable transformation fills me with gratitude, especially for the opportunity to return to Victoria post-graduation and contribute to our alma mater through this meaningful gift.
Both my children experienced unexpected growth through Victoria's Diamond Jubilee musical. My eldest, who initially knew little about musical theater, acquired numerous new skills; while my typically introverted youngest delivered a breakthrough performance beyond our wildest expectations. Witnessing their untapped potential unfold onstage has been extraordinary. We're deeply thankful to the teachers for their tireless efforts in nurturing each child's abilities and creating such transformative opportunities.
Act VI
Crafting Excellence
Education as the Soul
With masterful bilingual fluency and exceptional stage presence, the children brought to life the timeless theme of "Love and Courage"—a message that resonates deeply with every heart. This was not merely the core of the musical, but the crystallized wisdom of Victoria's sixty years of educational practice- We have always believed that beyond knowledge and skills lies the transformative power of character and emotional growth.
