上实国际升学分享会圆满落幕
金秋九月,上实国际学生会学习部精心筹备的升学分享会圆满落下了帷幕。本次盛会得到了校领导及老师们的鼎力支持,不仅吸引了校内各年级众多学生的踊跃参与,还迎来了家长们的广泛关注与热情参与。我们荣幸地邀请到了2023届杰出毕业生谢翊展和即将步入新阶段的2024届优秀毕业生林沐风,他们慷慨地分享了各自宝贵的升学经验与心路历程,为在场的每一个人带来了深刻的启迪与激励。
In September, the College Application Sharing Session, organized by the Student Council of Shanghai Experimental School International Division (SESID), came to a conclusion. This event received great support from both school leadership and the admissions department, attracting enthusiastic participation from students of all grades and their parents. We were honored to have two distinguished speakers: Yi-Jhan Hsieh, a graduate from the Class of 2023, and Lin Mufeng, from the Class of 2024. They shared their experiences and personal journeys, which provides inspiration and encouragement to attendees.

Lin Mufeng received admission offers from world-renowned universities, including Imperial College London, UCL, and others. During his talk, he reflected on his academic journey, offering insights into time management and sharing his experience preparing for interviews with G5 universities.

经验总结
⁃ 进入A2阶段后,学生通常会面临三到四门核心课程的学习,此时学校里的自习时间相对充裕。关键在于如何做到劳逸结合,既保证学习效率,又不忽视休闲娱乐。同时,要清晰地识别学习中的重点与次重点,通过大量刷题来巩固知识,从而在考试中取得优异成绩。
⁃ 在申请季,保持平稳的心态至关重要。需要注意的是,即使是同一所学校的同一专业,发放offer的时间也可能大相径庭。因此,只要没有被明确拒绝,就应当保持希望,避免因为等待offer而产生的焦虑情绪影响到后续的考试准备,特别是像P3这样重要的考试。
⁃ 对于有意向申请牛津大学、帝国理工学院(IC)等G5高校的学生来说,提前准备笔面试是必不可少的。这些学校的笔面试题目往往以A2阶段的知识为基础进行延伸,难度会逐渐增加。因此,深入了解面试流程,针对性地进行准备,是提升竞争力的关键。
- Upon entering A2, students typically juggle three to four core subjects, but also enjoy more independent study time. The key is balancing work and rest to maintain productivity while allowing time for leisure. It’s important to distinguish between primary and secondary tasks, focus on critical areas, and use ample practice to reinforce knowledge, ultimately excelling in exams.
- Stress management during the application process is essential. Even for the same major at the same university, offer decisions may come at different times. As long as a rejection hasn’t been received, students should remain hopeful and avoid letting anxiety over offers disrupt preparations for crucial exams, such as Paper 3.
- For students aiming for G5 universities like Oxford and Imperial College, early preparation for interviews is critical. Interview questions often build upon A2 knowledge. Understanding the interview process and preparing well in advance is key to gaining a competitive edge.

⁃ 学生们在9年级时就应该明确自己未来的大学专业方向,以便为后续的学习和活动做好铺垫。到了10年级,则应开始着手准备托福或雅思等语言考试,并积极参与与自己专业方向相关的活动或竞赛,以丰富自己的简历。而到了11年级,则是准备申请文书、收集并整理申请材料的关键时期。
⁃ 对于文科社科类的学生来说,深入研究评估目标(assessment objectives)和考试样题(exam exemplar)是至关重要的。这有助于他们更好地把握考试要求和出题方向,从而有针对性地进行复习。
⁃ 定期整理笔记也是提高学习效率的有效方法,它能帮助学生巩固所学知识,形成系统的知识体系。
⁃ 在规划学习和生活时,谢翊展学长还强调了设置优先级的重要性。他建议按照事情的紧急程度和重要性来列出待办事项,优先处理那些重要且紧急的任务,而将非必要的事情暂时放在一边。
⁃ 此外,他还提到了预留缓冲时间的重要性,这可以帮助学生应对突发事件或意外情况,确保整体计划的顺利进行。
- By Grade 9, students should have a clear idea of their future major to better plan their studies and activities. In Grade 10, they should start preparing for language proficiency exams like TOEFL or IELTS, while also engaging in relevant activities or competitions. Grade 11 is the critical period for drafting personal statements and organizing application materials.
- For students pursuing humanities and social sciences, it is crucial to thoroughly review assessment objectives and exam exemplars. This will help them better understand exam requirements and tailor their preparation accordingly.
- Regularly organizing notes is an effective way to consolidate knowledge and build a systematic understanding of the subjects.
- In terms of time management, Ethan emphasized the importance of setting priorities. He suggested ranking tasks by urgency and importance, tackling the most critical ones first while putting less essential ones on hold.
- Additionally, Ethan highlighted the importance of building in buffer time to manage unexpected events or challenges, ensuring that plans stay on track.
